ব্যবসার আয় বা revenue থেকে মূল খরচ বা actual expense এবং opportunity cost উভয়ই বাদ দিলে যা থাকে তাই হলো অর্থনৈতিক লাভ বা Economic Profit.
যেমন: হাসান সাহেব একটি ছোট কম্পিউটারের ব্যবসার মালিক এবং তিনি নিজেকে ব্যবসাটা পরিচালনা করার জন্য Tk 20,000 বেতন দেন। কিন্তু যদি বড় কোন আইটি কোম্পানীতে চাকরী করতেন তিনি Tk 35,000 আয় করতে পারতেন, এখানে তার Opportunity cost হলো Tk 15,000. ধরা যাক, অন্যান্য খরচ Tk 100,000 এবং ব্যবসার আয় Tk 200,000। সুতরাং, Economic Profit বা অর্থনৈতিক লাভ হলো Tk [200,000-(20,000+15000+100,000)] =Tk (200,000-135,000) =Tk 65,000।
