বাতাসে বিষাক্ত রাসায়নিক দ্রব্য বা যৌগের উপস্থিতি যদি এমন পরিমাণে থাকে যে তা মানব স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ হয়ে ওঠে, তবে তাকে Air Pollution বা বায়ু দূষণ বলা হয়। আরও বিস্তারিতভাবে বললে, বায়ু দূষণ বলতে বাতাসে রাসায়নিক পদার্থ এবং যৌগের উপস্থিতি বোঝায় যা সাধারণতঃ উপস্থিত থাকেনা এবং যা বাতাসের মান হ্রাস করে বা জীবনের মানে ক্ষতিকর পরিবর্তন নিয়ে আসে।
