Appropriate Preposition:

  • Affectionate to ( স্নেহশীল ) He is affectionate to me.
  • Polite in ( নম্র ) He is polite in his manners. (Polite to strangers).
  • Obstacle to ( বাধা ) Poverty is often obstacle to higher studies.
  • Vary from ( আলাদা হওয়া ) His opinion varies from his brother's.
  • Zealous for ( আগ্রহী ) He is zealous for improvement.
  • Compete with ( প্রতিযোগিতা করা (কোন একজন) ) I competed with him for the first prize.

Idioms:

  • Three R's ( প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা ) The majority of our people have not yet learnt the three R's.
  • Breathe one's last ( মারা যাওয়া ) The old man breathed his last on Sunday last.
  • At large ( স্বাধীন ) The anti-socials are still at large.
  • Turn a deaf ear to ( মনোযোগ না দেওয়া ) He turned a deaf ear to my proposal.
