Appropriate Preposition:

  • Impose on ( চাপানো ) The task was imposed on him.
  • Hanker after ( লালায়িত হওয়া ) Do not hanker after wealth.
  • Sure of ( নিশ্চিত ) I am sure of success.
  • Polite in ( নম্র ) He is polite in his manners. (Polite to strangers).
  • Involved in ( জড়িত ) He is involved in the plot.
  • Compete for ( প্রতিযোগিতা করা (কোন কিছু) ) He competed for the first position.

Idioms:

  • Nip in the bud ( অঙ্কুরে বিনষ্ট করা ) All his hopes were nipped in the bud.
  • Part and parcel ( অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ ) Discipline is part and parcel of administration.
  • At sixes and sevens ( বিশৃঙ্খলা অবস্থায় ) All the furniture in the room were at sixes and sevens.
  • A black sheep ( কুলাঙ্গার ) Tom is a black sheep in their family
  • At dagger drawn ( খড়গহস্ত ) The two brothers are now at daggers drawn.
