Appropriate Preposition:

  • Sympathy for ( সহানুভূতি ) I have no sympathy for him.
  • Slow of ( ধীর ) He is slow of speech. He is slow at figures. He is slow in writing.
  • Deprived of ( বঞ্চিত ) He was deprived of his property.
  • Offended with ( বিরক্ত (ব্যক্তি) ) I am offended with you at your conduct.
  • Rely on ( নির্ভর করা ) You can rely on him.
  • Control over ( নিয়ন্ত্রণ ) He has no control over his brother.

Idioms:

  • By and large ( প্রধানতঃ ) People in our village are by and large farmers.
  • At one’s own sweet will ( খুশি মতো ) He still does it at his own sweet will.
  • Irony of fate ( ভাগ্যের পরিহাস ) He could not succeed by irony of fate.
  • Achilles heel ( দুর্বলতা বা ত্রুটি ) He is trying to hide but everybody knows his achilles' heel
  • Crocodile tears ( ময়া কান্না ) He shed crocodile tears at our misery.
