Appropriate Preposition:

  • Prior to ( পূর্বে ) Prior to that, he was in a wretched condition.
  • Respect to ( সম্বন্ধে ) We are talking with respect to that matter.
  • Render into ( অনুবাদ করা ) Render the passage into Hindi.
  • Parallel to ( সমান্তরাল ) This line is parallel to that.
  • Wanting in ( বিহীন ) He is wanting in common sense.
  • Open to ( উন্মুক্ত ) His plan is open to objection.

Idioms:

  • In a fix ( মুশকিলে পতিত ) He is in a fix and does not know what to do.
  • a bad apple ( কোনো একটা দলের সব ভালোর মধ্যে খারাপ বা মন্দটা ) In any group of average citizens there are bound to be a few bad apples.
  • As it were ( যেন ) The sun is, as it were , the lamp of the universe.
  • Out of order ( বিকল ) This car is out of order.
  • At a loss ( হতবু্দ্ধি ; কিংকর্তব্যবিমূঢ় ) He was at a loss and did not know what to do.
  • Take to one's heels ( ছুটিয়া পালানো ) The thieves took to their heels to see the police.
