A preposition is word that relates noun, pronoun or phrases to other words within a sentence.
Pre অর্থ পুর্বে position অর্থ অবস্থান। অর্থাৎ যে সকল শব্দ বাক্যস্থিত Noun বা Pronoun-এর পুর্বে বসে বাক্যের অন্য Part of speech –এর সাথে সম্বন্ধ সৃষ্টি করে তাদেরকে Preposition বলে।

- আমি ঢাকায় বাস করি - I live in Dhaka.
- আমার ভাই কুমিল্লা বাস করে –My brother lives at Comilla.
- সোমবার দিন আসিও –Come on Monday.
- শুক্রবারের মধ্যে আমি বাড়ি ফিরব-I shall come back by Friday.
- সে এখন ঋণ মুক্ত –He is now clear of debt.
- এটি আইন বিরুদ্ধ- This is against the law.
- এই বিষয় সম্পর্কে আমি কিছুই জানি না –I know nothing about the matter.
- সে বিচারকের সম্মুখে হাজির হয়েছে –He has appeared before the judge.
- সে আমার স্বাস্থ্য সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞেস করেছে –He has inquired after my health.
- তার সততা সন্দেহের অতীত –His honesty is beyond doubt.
- বালকদের মধ্যে আমগুলি ভাগ করে দাও –Divide the mangoes among the boys.
- মৃত্যু ধনী ও গরীবদের মধ্যে পার্থক্য রাখে না –Death does not make any different between the rich and the poor man.
