Continuous or Continual

Continuous

Continuous শব্দটি একটি adjective.

Meaning as an adjective:

একটানা। কোন বাধা ছাড়া।

Occurring without interruption.

Examples:

  • There was a continuous rain for twenty-four hours. (চব্বিশ ঘন্টা ধরে একটানা বৃষ্টি হচ্ছিলো।)
  • Are you singing on a continuous basis?
  • Continuous working has made him exhausted.
  • The production process is going through continuous monitoring.
  • Everyone is fed up of this continuous argument between the two parties.
  • The students need a break after the continuous exams.

 

Continual

Continual শব্দটিও একটি adjective.

Meaning as an adjective:

অবিরাম। কোনোকিছু যা বেশ কিছু সময় ধরে চলছে, তবে মাঝে বিরতি বা বাধা থাকতে পারে, অর্থাৎ যার পুনরাবৃত্তি হচ্ছে।

Something occurring over a period but maybe with breaks or interruptions, i.e. repeated.

Examples:

  • Everyone is facing different troubles for the continual raining of the past few days. (গত কয়েকদিনের অবিরাম বর্ষণে প্রত্যেকে বিভিন্ন সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হচ্ছে।)
  • The students are undergoing continual tests and pieces of training.
  • The patient is undergoing continual tests and therapies.
  • The continual scarcity of pure drinking water of the people of this area has come to an end with the setting up of the tube well.
  • The road has been repaired, and the continual problem of the people is thus mitigated.
  • The board members are discussing the continual problems of the office and trying to find ways to solve those.
