Shade /noun/ (আবছায়া / ঢাকনা / রঙের গভীরতা):
Shade হলো কোনো অস্পষ্ট মাধ্যম দিয়ে আলো যাওয়ার ফলে যে ছায়ার সৃষ্টি হয় তা। এটি ঢাকনা অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হয় যা আলো যেতে বাধা দেয়। এর আরেকটি অর্থ হলো কোনো একটি রঙের গভীরতা বা মাত্রা ওই রঙের সাধারণ গাড়তা থেকে।
Shade means relative darkness caused by light rays being intercepted by an opaque body; protective covering that protects something from direct sunlight; a quality of a given color that differs slightly from another color.
Example:
- The sun was hot, and there were no trees to offer us shade. (Shadow নয়)
- I think we might want to plant some things to create more shade.
- Her subjects are African American, but Sherald paints their skin in shades of gray.
- The landscape’s shades of red, orange and brown shift throughout the day, providing a different perspective almost by the hour.

Shadow /noun/(ছায়া / প্রচ্ছায়া):
আলো তির্যকভাবে পড়ার কারনে মানুষ ,কুকুর, চেয়ার ইত্যাদি প্রাণী বা বস্তুর অবিকল ছায়া বা বিম্ব পড়লে তাকে shadow বলে। কোনো বিষয় বা জিনিস যা ধারণার মধ্যে বর্তমান এবং যার বৈশিষ্ট্য ছায়া বা অন্ধরকারের সাথে মিলে।
Shadow means a dark shape created by an object blocking a source of light. It also means something existing in perception only.
