As (যেহেতু/হিসেবে):
As সাধারণত conjunction হিসেবে বসে।
As means ‘since’/’because’. Sometimes as means ‘alike’.
Example:
- Sayma enjoys all kinds of music as I do. (Like নয়)
- The situation is not that bad as you described.
- He was so foolish as to lie.
- The hotel is quite comfortable as such establishments go.
- As you know, I cannot stay here for long.
Like (মত/সদৃশ):
Like সাধারনত conjunction হিসেবে বসে না। এটি preposition হিসেবে বসে।
Like means similar or nearly the same.
Example:
- Stop acting like a spoilt kid. (As নয়)
- Manik is like his father. (As নয়)
- The price is more like 1,000 dollars.
- It looks like we'll finish on time.
- To dance like she does requires great discipline.
