Allow /verb/ (অনুমতি দেওয়া):
Adverbial particle এর সাথে allow বসতে পারে, দুটি ক্ষেত্র ছাড়া আর বাকি সব ক্ষেত্রে allow এবং permit কে interchangeably ব্যবহার করা যায়। If clause –এর passive structure এ শুধু permit ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে, allow নয়।
Permit is used in the passive structure of a if-clause.
Example:
- Sabina wouldn’t allow me in. (Permit নয়)
- Mary is not allowed out at night. ( Permit নয় )
- They don't allow people to smoke in this hotel.
- Women were not allowed in the club.
Permit /verb/ (অনুমতি দেওয়া):
Adverbial particle এর সাথে permit বসতে পারে না। যায়। If clause –এর passive structure এ শুধু permit ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে, allow নয়।
Permit means to consent to expressly or formally.
Example:
- It is permitted to smoke in the kitchen. (Allowed নয়)
- The judge permitted the release of the prisoner.
- Smoking is not permitted in the building.
- Jems permitted himself one more cookie.
- The new ramp permits easier access to the highway.
