Classic

Classic শব্দটি adjective এবং noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Meaning as an adjective:

1. এমন উচ্চ মানসম্পন্ন কোনোকিছু যাকে একই ধরনের অন্যকিছুর মান বিবেচনা করতে মানদন্ড হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হয়।

Something of such a high quality that it is considered as a standard while judging other things of the same type.

Examples:

• Jim has collected all the classic novels of William Shakespeare. (জিম উইলিয়াম শেক্সপীয়ারের সব স্বীকৃত উপন্যাসগুলো সংগ্রহ করেছে।)
• Bella is very much fond of the classic novels of Tagore.

 2. শৈলীতে অথবা নকশায় ঐতিহ্যবাহী।

Traditional in style or design.

Examples:

• Jack wore a classic coat at the party. (জ্যাক পার্টিতে একটা ঐতিহ্যবাহী কোট পরেছিলো।)
• Jessica bought a traditional cap from the fair.

3. নির্দিষ্ট কোনো কিছুকে উপস্থাপন করার মতো সব গুণ বা বৈশিষ্ট্য থাকা।

Containing all the qualities or characteristics to represent a specific thing.

Examples:

• John is a classic example of a lazy person. (জন অলস লোকের একজন আদর্শ উদাহরণ।)
• This movie is a classic example of superb action.

Meaning as a noun:

সেরা শিল্প, ছায়াছবি, লেখা বা সংগীত যার স্থায়ীত্ব বেশী বা উচ্চ গুণসম্পন্ন।

A masterpiece of art, film, writing or music having lasting value or high quality.

Examples:

• Jahir Raihan’s film ‘Jibon theke Neya’ is regarded as a Bangladeshi classic. (জহির রায়হানের ’জীবন থেকে নেয়া’ একটি সেরা বাংলাদেশী ছায়াছবি হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়।)

Classical

Classical শব্দটি একটি adjective.

Meaning as an adjective:

1. এই শব্দটি রোমান এবং প্রাচীন গ্রীক সময়কালের ইতিহাস, সাহিত্য, সংস্কৃতি, জ্ঞান সম্পর্কিত কিছু বোঝায়।

This word describes anything relating to the Roman and ancient Greek period- history, literature, culture, studies.

Example:

• We were unable to understand the literature because those were written in the classical language. (আমরা সাহিত্যটা বুঝতে অক্ষম হলাম কারণ সেগুলো রোমান এবং প্রাচীন গ্রীক ভাষায় লেখা ছিলো।)

2. ধরনে বা শৈলীতে ঐতিহ্যবাহী বা এমন উপায় ব্যবহার করা যা বহু দীর্ঘ কাল ধরে উন্নত হয়েছে।

Traditional in form or style or applying ways progressed over long time periods.

Example:

• Sam is a singer of modern songs, but he is also an expert in classical songs. (স্যাম একজন আধুনিক গানের শিল্পী কিন্তু সে রাগাশ্রয়ী গানরেও একজন বিশেষজ্ঞ।)
