Estimate

Estimate শব্দটি verb এবং noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Meaning as a verb:

মোটামুটিভাবে কোনোকিছুর ব্যপ্তি, সংখ্যা, পরিমাণ বা মান হিসেব বা বিবেচনা করা।

Roughly calculating or judging the extent, number, quantity or value of something.

Examples:

• Please estimate the approximate cost of organizing the program. (দয়া করে অনুষ্ঠানটি আয়োজন করার সম্ভাব্য খরচটা মোটামুটিভাবে হিসেব করো।)
• Can you estimate the cost of starting this project?
• The economists are estimating the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the country.

Meaning as a noun:

কোনোকিছুর ব্যপ্তি, সংখ্যা, পরিমাণ বা মানের একটি সম্ভাব্য বা মোটমুটি বিবেচনা বা হিসেব ।

An approximate or a rough judgement or calculation of the extent, number, quantity or value of something.

Examples:

• The figures which you are providing are only an estimate. (যে সংখ্যাগুলো তুমি দিচ্ছো সেগুলো শুধুই একটি মোটামুটি বিবেচনা বা হিসেব।)
• The economists have provided an estimate of the approximate GDP of this year.
• The company’s marketing team has provided an estimate of the cost of the new project.

Guesstimate

Guesstimate শব্দটিও verb এবং noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Meaning as a verb:

এই শব্দটি অনানুষ্ঠানিভাবে verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়। ধারণা এবং হিসেবের মিশ্রণের ব্যবহার করে কোনোকিছুর গণনা করা। এটা guess বা ধারণা থেকে ভালো কিন্তু estimate বা মোটমুটি হিসেব থেকে কম সঠিক।

This word is informally used as a verb. Counting something using a mixture of guess and calculation. It is better than a guess but less accurate than an estimate.

Examples:

• I can guesstimate that the place is not more than three kilometers from here. (আমি ধারণা এবং হিসেবের মিশ্রণের ব্যবহার করে বলতে পারি যে জায়গাটি এখান থেকে তিন কিলোমিটারের বেশী না।)
• They are guesstimating that the cost would be not more than Tk 20,000.

Meaning as a noun:

ধারণা এবং মিশ্রণের ব্যবহার করে করা কোন গণনা। এটা guess বা ধারণা থেকে ভালো কিন্তু estimate বা মোটমুটি হিসেব থেকে কম সঠিক।

A count using the mixture of guess and calculation. It is better than a guess but less accurate than an estimate.

Examples:
