Fault (ত্রুটি/দোষ/খুঁত):
কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর খুঁত, অপূর্ণতা, বা অক্ষমতাকে আমরা fault বলে থাকি। আবার কোন ভুল, সমস্যা বা খারাপ অবস্থার জন্য দায়ী তা প্রমান করার জন্য fault ব্যবহার হয়ে থাকে।
Fault means a bad quality or weakness in something’s or someone’s character. It also refers to the responsibility for a problem, mistake, bad situation, etc.
Example:
- He committed too many faults to win the match.
- It’s my fault that the car was stolen. Because I left the door open. (Mistake নয়)
- Lack of courage is her worst fault.
- It's your own fault you missed the train.
- Though no fault of his own, he won't be able to attend the meeting.
Mistake/Error (ভুল):
সাধারণত কোন কিছু বলতে বা করতে গিয়ে যদি কোন ভুল হয়ে থাকে ওই ক্ষেত্রে mistake/error ব্যবহার করে থাকি।
Mistake means to understand or identify someone/something incorrectly or to make a wrong action, calculation or judgment about something.
Example:
- The article contains numerous spelling mistakes.
- It would be a mistake to think that we can rely on your help.
- There's a mistake in the schedule.
- There must be some mistake in your calculation.
