Amount (পরিমান) & Number (সংখ্যা )
কোন কিছুর পরিমান বোঝাতে amount ব্যবহৃত হয়। Uncountable noun এর পরিমান নির্দেশ করতে এটি ব্যবহৃত হয় ।
আবার বিপুল পরিমান বোঝাতে ও plural countable noun এর সাথে amount হয় ।
Example:
- There is a small amount of water in the jug. (Number নয়)
- We hoard a large amount of mangoes in the godown each year. (Number নয়)
কোন কিছুর সংখ্যা নির্দেশ করতে number ব্যবহৃত হয় । অর্থাৎ countable noun এর সংখ্যা বোঝাতে number ব্যবহার হয়ে থাকে।
Example:
- A large number of student read in the college. (Amount নয় )
Cause (কারণ) & Reason (কারণ)
Cause হচ্ছে তাই যা result বা ফলাফল নির্ণয় করে। Result প্রকাশে cause জানাটা মুখ্য বিষয়।
Example:
- Drinking and driving is a common cause of traffic accidents. (Reason নয়)
- This disease can cause blindness. (Reason নয়)
Reason হচ্ছে তাই, যা কোন result বা ফলাফলকে explain বা বিশ্লেষণ করে।
Example:
- There was no reason for his coming. (Cause নয়)
- They were locked up without any reason.
