Appropriate Preposition:

  • Prefer to ( অধিক পছন্দ করা ) I prefer coffee to tea.
  • Zest for ( অনুরাগ ) She has no zest for music.
  • Boast of ( গর্ব করা ) Do not boast of your wealth.
  • Favourable to ( অনুকূল (ব্যক্তি) ) This situation is favourable to me for doing this.
  • Wish for ( আকাঙ্খা করা ) I do not wish for name and fame.
  • Proportionate to ( আনুপাতিক ) Punishment should be proportionate to offence.

Idioms:

  • In force ( বলবৎ ) This law is in force now.
  • Chip of the old block ( বাপকা বেটা ) He is a chip of the old black.
  • Breathe one's last ( মারা যাওয়া ) The old man breathed his last on Sunday last.
  • Fish out of water ( অস্বস্তিকর অবস্থায় ) When he came to the village, he felt like a fish out of water.
