Appropriate Preposition:

  • Prefer to ( অধিক পছন্দ করা ) I prefer coffee to tea.
  • Opportunity for ( সুযোগ ) I have no opportunity for (of) doing the work.
  • Live on ( খেয়ে বাঁচা ) The cow lives on grass.
  • Addicted to ( আসক্ত ) He is addicted to separate.
  • Rob of ( অপহরণ করা ) Somebody robbed him of his purse.
  • Tide over ( অতিক্রম করা ) He will soon tide over the difficulty.

Idioms:

  • Achilles heel ( দুর্বলতা বা ত্রুটি ) He is trying to hide but everybody knows his achilles' heel
  • Man of straw ( অপদার্থ লোক ) We do not care a fig for a man of straw like him.
  • Turn a deaf ear to ( মনোযোগ না দেওয়া ) He turned a deaf ear to my proposal.
  • To the backbone ( হাড়ে হাড়ে ) The boy is wicked to the backbone.
  • Fish in a troubled water ( এলোমোলো অবস্থায় সুযোগ নেওয়া ) He made a lot of money by fishing in a troubled water.
  • As it were ( যেন ) The sun is, as it were , the lamp of the universe.
