Downstage

Downstage শব্দটি adjective এবং adverb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।

Meaning as an adjective/adverb:

মঞ্চে দর্শকদের সবচেয়ে কাছের এলাকা বা মঞ্চের সামনের দিকে।

The area of the stage which is closest to the audience or towards the stage.

Examples:

  • They were sitting downstage. (তারা মঞ্চের সামনে বসেছিলো।)
  • You can find him in the downstage area.
  • Jim started running downstage.
  • The man kept all the musical instruments downstage.
  • Jack was roaming around the downstage area.

Upstage

Upstage শব্দটি adjective, adverb এবং verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।

Meaning as an adjective/adverb:

মঞ্চে দর্শকদের চেয়ে সবচেয়ে দূরের এলাকা বা মঞ্চের পেছনের দিকে।

The area of the stage which is farthest away from the audience or at the back of a stage.

Examples:

  • They were standing upstage. (তারা মঞ্চের পেছনের দিকে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলো।)
  • Alex is in the upstage area.
  • Harry was standing in front of a blue upstage screen.

Meaning as a verb:

কারোর দিক থেকে মনোযোগ নিজের দিকে ফেরানো।

To upstage anyone means drawing attention away from the person to oneself.

Examples:

  • All the actors were upstaged by the superstar in the film. (ছায়াছবিটিতে বড় তারকাটি সব অভিনেতাদের থেকে মনোযোগ নিজের দিকে ফিরিয়ে রেখেছিলেন।)
  • You are a new singer, so you can’t upstage a popular singer like him.
  • The singer is so popular that he has the ability to upstage any singer.
