Chafe
Chafe শব্দটি verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Meaning as a verb:
1. ঘষার মাধ্যমে দাগ বা ঘা বা ক্ষত হয়ে যাওয়া বা করে ফেলা।
Becoming or making sore or damaged by rubbing.
Examples:
- Rocky’s new shirt’s collar is so tight that it chafed his neck. (রকির নতুন শার্টের কলার এতো আঁট-শাঁট যে তার ঘাড়ে দাগ হয়ে গিয়েছে।)
- Alice’s new shoe is so tight that it chafed her heels.
- Ann’s finger was chafed after removing the tight ring.
2. অসুবিধা বা নিয়ম বা বাধার কারণে অধৈর্য্য বা বিরক্ত করে ফেলা বা হয়ে যাওয়া।
Making or becoming impatient or annoyed because of inconvenience or rules or restrictions.
Examples:
- The students of this school are chafed under the strict rules and regulations. (এই স্কুলের শিক্ষার্থীরা কঠোর নিয়ম-শৃঙ্খলার কারণে বিরক্ত।)
- We are chafed under the unsolved inconvenience of the society.
- The employees of that office are chafed under the intolerable work pressure and strict rules.
Chaff
Chaff শব্দটি noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Meaning as a noun:
1. বিভিন্ন শস্যের খোসা বা বাইরের আবরণ যা মাড়াই করে আলাদা করা হয় যেমন: ধান থেকে তুষ আলাদা করা হয়।
The peel or outer layer of different grains which are separated by threshing such as husks are separated from paddy.
Examples:
- The village ladies and girls separate the chaffs from paddy by threshing in the seesaw. (গ্রামের মহিলা এবং মেয়েরা ঢেঁকিকলে মাড়াই করে ধান থেকে তুষ আলাদা করে।)
- The poor villagers don’t throw away the chaffs after separating those from paddy rather they eat those.
2. শুকনো ডাঁটা বা ঘাস বা খড় যা গবাদি পশুর খাবার হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Dried stems or grass or straw which are used as cattle feed.
Examples:
- Mary gave the chaffs to the cow to eat. (মেরী গরুটাকে খড়গুলো খাবার জন্য দিলো।)
- The farmer is storing the chaffs on the side of his yard.
3. অপ্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসপত্র।
Useless things.
Examples:
- We have to clear all the chaffs from this room by today. (আমাদেরকে আজকের মধ্যে এই কক্ষ থেকে সব অপ্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসপত্র পরিষ্কার করতে হবে।)
- You have to edit this article to remove all the chaffs.
