  • Cope with ( সামলানো ) I cannot cope with the situation.
  • Argue for ( যূক্তি দেখানো (কোন কিছু) ) I argued with him for the point.
  • Appeal for ( আবেদন করা (কোন কিছু) ) He appealed for pardon.
  • Look at ( তাকানো ) Look at the moon.

Idioms:

  • Sink in ( আবদ্ধ হওয়া, ডুবে যাওয়া ) He sank in mud or the ship sank into the sea.
  • Three R's ( প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা ) The majority of our people have not yet learnt the three R's.
  • Bring to book ( শাস্তি দেওয়া ) He should be brought to book for his misconduct.
  • Man of straw ( অপদার্থ লোক ) We do not care a fig for a man of straw like him.
  • Curry favour ( তোষামোদ করিয়ে প্রিয় হওয়া ) He knows how to curry favour with officers.
  • A bolt from the blue ( সম্পূর্ন অপ্রত্যাশিত ) The news of his father's death came to him as a bolt from the blue.
