  • Deprived of ( বঞ্চিত ) He was deprived of his property.
  • Officiate for ( পরিবর্তে কাজ করা (ব্যক্তি) ) He officiated for me in that post.
  • Prone to ( ঝোঁক আছে এমন ) He is prone to idleness.

Idioms:

  • Curry favour ( তোষামোদ করিয়ে প্রিয় হওয়া ) He knows how to curry favour with officers.
  • Chip of the old block ( বাপকা বেটা ) He is a chip of the old black.
  • Irony of fate ( ভাগ্যের পরিহাস ) He could not succeed by irony of fate.
  • Hard and fast ( বাঁধা ধরা ) There is no such hard and fast rule in this matter.
  • Three R's ( প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা ) The majority of our people have not yet learnt the three R's.
