Appropriate Preposition:

  • in favour of ( পক্ষে ) He spoke in favour of his friend.
  • Made of ( তৈরি ) This ring is made of gold.
  • Liking for ( রুচি ) She has a liking for music.
  • Wanting in ( বিহীন ) He is wanting in common sense.
  • Allot to ( বিলি করা ) One room has been allotted to him.
  • Apply for ( আবেদন করা (কোন কিছু) ) He applied to the Secretary for the post.

Idioms:

  • By no means ( কোন ভাবেই না ) I shall by no means call on him.
  • ABC ( প্রাথমিক জ্ঞান ) Everybody must know at least the ABC of religion.
  • At one’s wit’s end ( হতবুদ্ধি ) He was at his wit’s end and did not know what to do.
  • At bay ( কোনঠাসা ) The tiger was at bay in the bush.
  • In lieu of ( পরিবর্তে ) Give me this pen in lieu of that.
