Appropriate Preposition:

  • Count for ( গণ্য হওয়া ) His advice counts for nothing.
  • Alternative to ( বিকল্প ) This question is alternative to that.
  • Contrary to ( বিপরীত ) His action is contrary to his words.
  • Confident to ( আবদ্ধ (শয্যা) ) He is confined to bed.
  • Wish for ( আকাঙ্খা করা ) I do not wish for name and fame.
  • Enquire of ( অনুসন্ধান করা (ব্যক্তি) ) He enquired of me into the matter.

Idioms:

  • a bad apple ( কোনো একটা দলের সব ভালোর মধ্যে খারাপ বা মন্দটা ) In any group of average citizens there are bound to be a few bad apples.
  • put a spoke to ones wheel ( কারও উন্নতিতে বাধা হওয়া )
  • Out of the wood ( বিপদমুক্ত ) He is not yet out of the wood.
